May 14, 1952 - January 20, 2022
Missionary Marie S. Culmer was born May 14,1952 to Mildred C. Brown and Jerome Sanders in Savannah, Ga. She was educated in the Savannah, Ga school system, earning her High School diploma from Sophronia M. Tompkins in 1971. After graduation she was enrolled in Savannah State University only completing a year , before transitioning to NJ in 1972.
Missionary Marie was a licensed beautician by trade. In her early years she was gainfully employed by the State Library, Security Guard for Wells Fargo, and owned her own cleaning company in Savannah. Marie has wore many hats. It wasn’t till she transitioned back to Trenton to live out the remaining years of her life that she found her God given created purpose to service the community in which she lived. Her employment with the Women’s Shelter at The Rescue Mission in Trenton began her new journey in the mission field. She impacted hearts until her retirement after working 14 years.
Missionary Marie had a big heart, that impacted her church, her community and all whom she came in contact. She was faithful, served well and she worked hard. She completed every project with pride and excellence. I believe she is best know for her smile; which brought light to everyone who encountered it. She was a private person when she wasn’t volunteering serving her family and community. She talked well about her children and grandchildren when we pushed the right buttons. Her heart was filled with loved that seeped out on to her family. She never missed a birthday or Christmas, even though she didn’t have much, she gave a little to all.
