CELEBRATION OF A QUIET LIFE OF JEFFERSON KONAH COLEMAN

Jeff, A child of God was born to the union of katumu and Arma Kai on October 23, 1954 in a town called lower Jenneh in Bomi Hills, Bomi County Liberia.                                                     Jeff, being their only child, he was named Konah.

Jeff was taken by his uncle William Varney Coleman at an early age to attend school in Monrovia. As a young child, Jeff embraced and had passion for religion, so he loved going to church with his family. They attended the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun Street in Monrovia, Liberia. As a teenager, he enrolled in an Elementary school known as Chocolate School, then merged to the People’s College, and later graduated from W.V.S Tubman High School, in Liberia.

To further his education, he attended the University of Liberia for 4 years and graduated in 1978 with his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics. Jeff then worked for the Datsun Garage in Monrovia for a year. He joined the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1979 as a Research Analyst. In quest to further his education, he enrolled at the Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas where he graduated in 1987 with his Master’s Degree (MA) in Economics.

Jeff, being a good citizen, he returned home to give back to his country. He obtained a position at the National Security Agency (NSA) as the Deputy Director for Vital Records. Because of his experience and knowledge of the Security Agency, whenever we went to visit him, we had to be patted down and searched and escorted by security to see him in his office, and Jeff would just laugh when he opened the door to see us. (This was fun for Jeff to see his family in this situation.)

He was also selected by the Liberian Government as an Official Observer of the Organization of African Unity-(OAU) in Namibia South Africa from 1989-1990 for the country’s first general elections. While he was in this capacity, he was able to meet some Dignitaries like His Excellency the late Mr. Koffi Annan, and the late President Nelson Mandela.

In 2000, Jeff left Liberia to visit the United States of America in the year 2000, and resided in Dallas, Texas. He then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be with his family. In 2002, he then moved to Philadelphia, and worked with the U-Haul Company, (where he boasted his perfect attendance record) until his death.

He leaves to mourn his death, his parents Katumu and Arma Kai, William Varney Coleman.
