Charles Patterson was born December 28, 1950 to Austin Patterson Sr. and Ellen Prater Patterson in Pineville, Louisiana. He received Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. R. T. Berry at the Saint Paul Baptist church in Bay Hills, Louisiana. Charles was a proud member in recovery for 30 years.
He graduated from Carver High School in 1968. He was a member of the baseball team, The marching band, concert band, choir, and National Honors Society. He attended Southern University and graduated with honors in 1972.
He then entered the US Army as a second lieutenant and came out as a first lieutenant in 1976. He then went to work for General Motors in Ewing, New Jersey starting as Recruiter traveling all over the country and enlisting engineering majors from various universities. He proceeded in his career as a Supervisor at General Motors and retired at the Linden plant.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Austin Patterson Sr. and Ellen Prater Patterson and siblings, Harold, Samuel, Clarence, Austin Patterson Jr., and Geraldine P. Bazile. He is survived by his loving wife, Cleopatra E. Stockton-Patterson and to this union, one daughter Dominique Charlae Patterson both of Willingboro NJ. Siblings-Johnnie P. Alexander, High Point NC, Warren Patterson Sr. (Cherry)of Bunkie LA, Evelyn Patterson of Los Angeles CA, Carol P. Gallerson of Bunkie LA. Stepchildren Jacinta A. Smalls (Ian Sr.) of Charlotte NC, and Bruce F. Black (Jennifer) of Savannah GA. He is also survived by a previous marriage, three children, Sherletha of Burlington NJ, Derek (Jennifer) Clearwater FL, Tyeisha Patterson of Lumberton NJ and 10 grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
