Raina Alicia Blackmon BS BSN RN, 46 years old, transitioned peacefully on August 22, 2017 in Hamilton, New Jersey. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Mary Dickerson Blackmon, her sister Kristen Elizabeth Blackmon (Alonzo DeRamus), niece Morgan Leigh Ann DeRamus and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends. Her father, Herbert Lee Blackmon predeceased her.

Raina was born on April 16, 1971 in Orange, New Jersey to Herbert Lee and Mary Dickerson Blackmon. She attended St. Charles Kids School, Calvary Christian School and The Arts High School of Newark, NJ graduating in 1989. Raina earned two bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Nursing from Ramapo College and Seton Hall University, respectively. She worked as a utilization/precertification nurse for CSG, Inc. Her career also included years as clinical researcher in the pharmaceutical industry, as a L&D/post-partum nurse at Princeton Plainsboro Hospital, a staff nurse for State of New Jersey Department of Corrections and as an educator of nursing students.

She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Board Member with the Birch Hollow Condo Association, Florence NJ.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM Bethany Baptist Church (275 West Market St Newark, NJ 07103)
