Charlie Alfred Roberts was born July 1, 1937 in Sale City Georgia. Charlie attended the public school
system in Camilla – Georgia, Trenton - New Jersey, and Buffalo – NY. He spent six years in the United
States Marines. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Charlie attended Lincoln Tech in
Philadelphia, PA along with his brother Willie. He graduated from Lincoln Tech as a Master Mechanic
and maintained his own business for a number of years.
Charlie loved shooting pool, traveling, talking about his profession, and he also enjoyed talking with
neighbors and relatives. In his later years he enjoyed sitting on the porch, sitting in his truck out back,
attending the community center and enjoying the park activities. Charlie usually kept a pleasant smile
on his face.
Charlie was the son of the late Arbazine Roberts and Elnora Sanders Roberts, he was predeceased by on
daughter; Georgia Wells and four brothers; Willie Cecil Roberts, Morris Lee Roberts, Thomas Roberts,
and Benny Lee Roberts. He has one surviving daughter; Sheila Taylor of Yonkers, NY; on surviving
brother; Dr. Malik Abdul-Alim; and one surviving sister; Pauline Roberts Minitee. He is also survived by a
special nephew, Matthew L. Minitee and a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nephews, nieces
and extended family.
