John Crawford

TRENTON - John Wesley Crawford, 73, of Trenton, departed this life Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison.

Born in Dillon, S.C. John resided in Trenton for 53 years after being honorably discharged from the United States Army in which he served in Korea from 1953-1957. He retired from American Standard in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was also a Special Police Officer providing security services for many events in Trenton including cabarets for various organizations and for the Trenton Housing Authority all under the supervision of Paul Innocenzi.

John was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Marie Crawford, two brothers, Willie Crawford, Jr. and Abraham “A-B” Crawford, and a sister, Carline Crawford.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bertha J. Hatchell Crawford, two sons, LaMar (Marquita) of Trenton and Leroy (Deidre) of VA; two daughters, Tina Crawford-Davis (Ahmed) of PA, Sherry McCoy-Barlow (Darryl) of Trenton; 14 grandchildren, LaMar, Jr., Jenay, Jamar, August, Shauntese, Janeria, Dexter, Eric, Taswir, Tiyan, Lasana, Joi, Shenaya, and Natara; two brothers, Walter Crawford(Grace) and James Crawford (Rose) of NY; two sisters, Zessie Chambers and Ethel White of Trenton; one aunt, Mary Emma Bethea of Dillon, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a special friend, Reverend Nate Benjamin of Washington, D.C.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 24th, 12 Noon at The Love Fellowship Tabernacle, 5918 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10AM until 12 Noon.

Internment will be on Monday, April 26 at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
