Born in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Dorothy was a very hard working woman. Throughout her life she held many jobs. In her early years she was employed at the Bricker Staff Nursing Home, Englishtown, she was known as the “Paperlady” for the Trentonian in her community, she was a home child care provider for the Trenton Childcare Connection and she owned her own catering business and also cooked for Trenton’s Club 36.
Dorothy was the wife of Donald “Sunny” Smith. She was also the proud mother of her 7 children. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her son, Michael Carpenter.
Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memories is six loving children: Arlene (Henry) Humphrey, Cynthia Lynn Taylor, Franklin (Sheila) Tyler, Jr., Beverly Ann (Mr. B) Tyler, Donald Lee (Michelle) Tyler, and Derrick Antwan (Michelle) Tyler. She is also survived by her sister, Sherri Ragland and 21 grandchildren.
Dorothy will also be sorely missed by 8 Great Grandchildren, nephew Darius, niece, Beverly, play daughter April Roberts, play grandson Allen Fookf: Sister in Law, Irma Jean Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday 11AM at Trenton Deliverance Center 1100 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton. Visitation will be held on Friday from 7 – 9PM at Ledford Funeral Home 929 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton and on Saturday from 9 – 11AM at Trenton Deliverance Center.
