Monita C. Vaughan of Trenton died May 19, 2009. She was born on August 4, 1961 in Ahoskie, NC. Monita graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1979. After graduation Monita attended Mercer County Community College and Norfolk State University. Monita in her later years attended the Greater Word to the World International Bible Institute.
Niq (Monita) called by many enjoyed being employed by Wilfred Academy (Lawrenceville, NJ), Thomas Cook (Princeton, NJ) and State of NJ Albert C Wagner Correctional Facility (Bordentown, NJ) for over 10 years were she impacted many lives.
Monita was devoted to many auxiliaries in her church, she sang in her Church Choir, Pastor Aide President, Sunday School Teacher (“Babes in Christ”), Nurses Board, Usher’s Board, Finance Department and Youth Leader among many other departments under the pastoral care of Chief Apostle D.C. Thomas and Senior Pastor S. R. Thomas.
After her long extensive hospitalization, she went home to be with our Lord. Niq’s memories will forever be cherished by her loving parents Willie & Shirley Vaughan (Trenton, NJ), four sisters Jackie Watson of Haverty Grace, MD, Gloria Williams (Tyrone) of Trenton, NJ, Rosalyn Taylor of Trenton, NJ, Nicole Mitchell (Donnell) of Philadelphia, PA Two brothers Willie Vaughan Jr.of Trenton, NJ, Robert Porter of Murfreesboro, NC and,. Three uncles Jasper Lassiter, Robert Lassiter and Melvin Bynum. Three aunts, Dora Smith, Laura Parker and Rowina Bussy. Special aunt Ester Epps (Robert). Four Great aunts Myrtle Clark, Julia Boone, Ada Jones and Ruth Vaughan. and Grandmother Doris Lassiter of Philadelphia, PA. God sister Deborah Carthan and god bother Niguel Boone. A host of nieces and nephews Edward, Marquis, Brittany, Amber, Maya, Malik, Nyjah, Sheena, Timothy Jr., Terrance, Robert Jr. and Jana. Special cousins Glenn Smith, Helena Jones, June Jones and Roberts Epps Jr. Four special sisters Kara, Antionette, Mildred, Angie, Gwen (Monti) and Dorniece. Five god children, Davora Thomas, Christian & Christopher Jones, T’Kesha Boone and Jasmine King. Special god daughter Boo (Jada).
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (May 23) 10AM at Word To The World Ministries 29 W. Front Street, Trenton. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 8 – 10AM. Services entrusted to Ledford Funeral Home 929 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton.
