Hall, Vestella “Bessie” (Staley), age 89, a resident of Newark, NJ, for more than 65 years, was called to eternal rest on Sunday, May 18th. Born May 3, 1919 to the late Will and Lizzie Staley in Damascus, Early County, Georgia. Wife of the late Rev. Johnnie Mangus Hall, Sr., Loving sister of Sarah Parker, the late Florence Love-Lewis and the late Lucille Johnson. Cherished mother of Pearl (Earl) Haley, Johnnie, (Rossie) Hall, Charlie (Marion), Hall, Elizabeth (Calvin) Ledford, Debi Hall-Dean, the late Beverley Barnett and step-mother of Roland (Betty) Cassey. Vestella is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, a very special cousin, Essie Mae Allen of Florida, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Vestella, was a professional seamstress and member of ILGWU (UNITE HERE) Union until her retirement from Dessel Formal Wear in Irvington, NJ. An active and faithful member of Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Newark, she was an ordained Deaconess, a Stewardess, and life member of the WH&OM Missionary Society.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 23rd at the Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 151 Broadway, Newark, NJ. Visitation at the church on Thursday at 5:00 pm, followed by a Service of Remembrance at 6:45 pm. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Iselin, NJ.
