Beverley Ann (Hall) Barnett

On Saturday, March 11, 2006, the Lord, our God in His infinite wisdom, sent an angel of mercy to summon His child home to a place of eternal peace.

Born on April 11, 1946 in Newark, NJ, Beverley Ann (Hall) Barnett was the fifth of six children born to Vestella Hall and the late Rev. Johnnie Mangus Hall, Sr. She was educated in the Newark Public School System at Summer Place, Broadway Elementary and Junior High, and then at Barringer High School.

Beverley was a true “work horse” who worked tirelessly in every aspect of her life. Her career began at the First National Bank and the Firemans Fund Insurance Company in Newark. As her children grew older, she was employed by Public Service Electric & Gas Co. (Newark and Summit) where she worked as a “gas man” and dispatcher. She was among the trailblazers who paved the way for women in non-traditional occupations. In 2002, she retired after 25 years of service at the age of 56.

Following her retirement, she took off full force with her own “family” business, called “Flavours & Favours”. It was through this venture that she was able to express her true passion and demonstrate her creative talents.

Beverley was pre-deceased by her father, the late Rev. Johnnie Mangus Hall, Sr..
