To the Family of Johnny Madden –
It was very upsetting and sad to learn of the horrific and senseless attack that lead to the passing of Johnny. My condolences go out to the family. Johnny always had a smile for me and something pleasant to say. Only God knows best and we can keep our loved ones alive by talking his name and remembering his time on this planet and the time the Creator allowed him to be a member of your family and a member of our community.

To the Family:
I’m still feeling the sadness this brings. It repeats over and over. Why!?
Johnny was good person, but somehow he didn’t belief he was. Someone or individuals believed he wasn’t. That’s what saddens me. They did know this good brother, he was harmless. When memory of him surfaces, these days forward, I’ll reflect more on the good ole days — as my neighbor and as a friend who would always greet you with a smile and conversation. And, oh!, how I’ll remember the partying, the concerts, the fun we all had hanging out like family. Those were the days.
My most sincere condolences to you all.

The violence and evilness towards each other has to stop! I am so sorry that my sister’s father has passed. I have the stories my mom would tell us of “Ajax and basketball game on the “Blacktop”. Seeing Johnnie on a crowded bus and him yelling ” hey Mal, how are you. How’s Afrika? Tell her ,her Dad said hello “. To think my memories were soiled by evil spirited people, continues the senseless violence that took him away.
I hope Johnnie is at rest and God will comfort ALL of his family.

To the Madden family. May the God of peace grant you comfort at this time. Like some of those old ‘Soul Stirrers’ songs declare, “We’ll understand it better by and by”. I got so accustumed to this stuff here in D.C., that it just seems so strange to have it happen in MY home town, or close by. Think on these scriptures, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy way acknowledge HIM, and HE will direct your path”. Remember, “To be absent from this body, is to be present with the LORD”. Praying for you and yours, always.

Dear Madden Family
In the days to come you will know how great and proud your brother, father, uncle and friend was to me and the people he came into contact with. I was favored by the Almighty to have fond memories and spent many fund filled hours with Johnny and Larry Madden. May your spirits keep ahold of both of the Madden boys. Love and greatness to you all. Annette Scruggs Tate
